Amazon, Target, WalMart and other retailers have embraced Internet sales. Traditional grocery stores and Internet grocers are delivering fresh and staple goods to homes.
COVID has accelerated the internet sales and home delivery.
The impact on retail has been huge as retailers shift to accommodate the shoppers. E-commerce, contactless capabilities and improved store technology processing are all geared to capture the shop from home experience..
The retailers now understand the importance of supply chain resiliency to avoid stockouts and delays. Great emphasis is being placed on order fulfilment with a strong push on the last-mile delivery and curbside pickup.
Retailers are investing heavily in warehouse management, procurement and delivery.
Tucson has benefited with the opening of Amazon’s distribution center and soon to be built sorting centers and fulfillment centers with other industrial distribution projects on the drawing board.
These large distribution centers have spawned additional development (FedEx building and Amazon sorting center) as businesses jockey to provide support to these centers.
Please discuss: “Industrial: The New Retail Market”.
